“Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.”
~ Marcus Aurelius
This morning as I was getting dressed, I dropped something as I went to the closet.
I continued to get dressed and then remembered I had dropped it. But where was it?
It was an ActiPatch for the pain in my knee . It has a little light on it that tells me that it is still operating. So, it was easy to see when I first dropped it.
I looked on the bed next to my pants, which would have been the most logical place I would have put it when I picked it up; but no, it wasn’t there.
I came back and continued to get dressed. I looked over at the bed and grabbed my pants. And there it was laying right beside them. As I said that was the most logical place for me to put it after I picked it up and it was in plain sight; but I didn’t see it when I was searching to find it.
IT’S A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE. How many times do we look at something and “see” something else? It was clearly there when I first looked on the bed. As I said, it even has a light on it. But my perspective was that it wasn’t there, and I continued to search for it and until I re-looked.
Perspective can be everything. It is so important to consider that what we first see, isn’t the way it is. This can be so incredibly valuable in business with our teams and even when we are trying to find a new solution, or when something went wrong. Or did it go wrong, and it is just a perspective that it did?
